Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon paprika

½ cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

4 whole wheat burger buns

Olive oil, for cooking

Optional toppings: Avocado slices, lettuce, tomato, and your favorite sauce (e.g., aioli or ranch)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and paprika.

Mix the ingredients well until fully combined – avoid over-mixing to maintain tenderness.

Gradually add the breadcrumbs to the mixture until the chicken mixture is firm enough to hold its shape. You may adjust the amount of breadcrumbs based on the moisture of the chicken.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties, pressing gently to ensure they hold together.

Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties to the skillet (you may have to cook them in batches).

Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat burger buns in a separate skillet or in the oven until golden, if desired.

Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked chicken patty on the bottom half of the bun and adding any optional toppings of your choice.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite side dish (fries or a salad).
