Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for optimal flavor)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, grated

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

4 green onions, chopped (white and green parts separated)

1 cup cooked jasmine rice (or rice of your choice)

1 cup steamed broccoli (or any vegetable of your choice)

Sesame seeds for garnish

Optional: 1 fried egg per serving

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned.

Add Aromatics: Once the beef is browned, drain excess fat if necessary, then add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Season the Beef: Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Mix well and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes until everything is well combined and the sauce thickens slightly.

Incorporate Vegetables: Add the chopped white parts of the green onions and any other vegetables you like, such as steamed broccoli. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until just tender.

Assemble the Bowls: In serving bowls, add a generous scoop of cooked jasmine rice. Top with the ground beef mixture and vegetables.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and green parts of green onion on top. For an added treat, top with a sunny-side-up fried egg if desired.

Enjoy: Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Korean Ground Beef Bowl!
