Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 cup granulated sugar

2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Apple Filling:

3 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-2 tablespoons milk (to desired consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture, mixing until well combined.

Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a separate bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and melted butter. Mix well to coat all the apple pieces evenly.

Assemble the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 16x24 inches).

Spread the apple filling evenly across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12-15 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.

Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly while you prepare the frosting.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. If too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.

Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm rolls and serve. Enjoy your delightful treat!
