Ingredients

8 oz spaghetti or fettuccine

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

Cook Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti or fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Create Sauce: Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for about 3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Add Cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until it is fully melted and the sauce is creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat it evenly in the creamy garlic Parmesan sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Garnish: Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley and a sprinkle of lemon zest for a fresh touch.
