Ingredients

6 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah recommended)

3 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

Pinch of salt

Fresh fruit (such as bananas or berries) for topping

Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.

Once the butter is melted and bubbling, dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds on each side.

Place the soaked bread into the pan and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

In a separate small saucepan, combine the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat, stirring until melted and bubbly to create a caramel sauce.

Once the French toast is cooked, carefully drizzle the caramel sauce over each slice in the skillet and let it cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Serve the caramelized French toast hot, topped with fresh fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup.
