Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup chicken or vegetable broth

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Cream Sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and slowly stir in the heavy cream, followed by the Parmesan cheese. Whisk until the cheese has melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combine: Add the cooked pasta directly into the sauce, tossing to combine. Add in the cooked shrimp and a splash of the reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency. Stir in lemon zest for freshness.

Serve: Plate the pasta and shrimp, garnishing with freshly chopped parsley. Add more Parmesan cheese on top if desired. Enjoy your creamy garlic shrimp pasta!
