Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 teaspoons sesame oil

¼ cup beef broth or water

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and beef broth or water. Whisk thoroughly and set aside.

Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Allow it to sear without stirring for 1-2 minutes until browned, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until fully cooked.

Add Aromatics: Push the beef to one side of the skillet and add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine and Finish: Return the broccoli to the skillet and pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is well-coated.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked jasmine rice or noodles, perfect for soaking up the delicious sauce.
