Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 packet taco seasoning

1 cup water

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tube of refrigerated pizza dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tsp taco sauce or hot sauce (optional)

Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish (optional)

Salsa or sour cream for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a large skillet, over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion until translucent (about 3-4 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Cook the Meat: Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain the excess fat if necessary. Stir in the taco seasoning and water, then let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Add Cheese: Stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and well combined. If you'd like an extra kick, mix in a teaspoon of taco sauce or hot sauce to the filling.

Preheat the Oven: While the filling is cooling, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll Out Pizza Dough: On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pizza dough. Cut it into rectangular strips, approximately 3 inches wide and 5-6 inches long.

Assemble Taco Sticks: Place a spoonful of the cheesy taco filling onto the center of each dough strip. Fold in the sides and roll it up to encase the filling. Make sure the seams are pinched closed to prevent leakage during baking.

Brush with Egg Wash: Arrange the rolled taco sticks on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg to achieve a golden color when baked.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions if desired. Serve with salsa or sour cream for dipping.
